The Renzo
decoys are light weight and and easy to set up. To set up the decoy
simply unfold it, put a steel rod into the leg of the decoy, and use
the plastic clip to hold it flat.
You can set up three decoys in less then 30 seconds. Carrying the decoys is easy,
simply tie it to your belt or your turkey vest using the holes provided in the decoy. A bow hunter can
easily carry a
flock of six to ten decoys without any trouble.
The advantage to
having
a number of decoys is that you can set up only what
you need. If you are setting up in a oak flat you may want two
or three decoys. On the other hand if you are hunting in the
middle of a field you may want to set up up more decoys. Having
more then one decoy will give you more flexibility in different
situations
cases bow hunters are carrying a
blind, bow, arrows, calls, and decoys. The Renzo decoys are very
light and easy to carry. Three dimensional can be very difficult
to carry into the field. This will limit the number of decoys that
you can carry. This will also make it unlikely that you will use
the decoy. When cutting and running you want to move fast. You also
want to be as quite as possible. You have your blind and chair on
you back already, you don't need any extra weight.
In the photo to the left I have three Renzo decoys in my hand.
If it is a slow day and there is no gobbling, this would be a good time to go to a feeding area and set up. This set up will be a little different. I would set up with the Jake in the middle pointing at the blind. The two hens would be 10 yards on either side of the Jake. One hen would be pointing at the blind and the other one will be sideways to the blind. The reason for putting the Jake in the middle pointing at the blind is that Toms will walk in front of the Jake decoy. This will give a perfect shooting opportunity.
An advantage to a one dimensional decoy is that they seem to move as the turkey walks towards it. As the turkey walks behind the decoy it seams to disappear. This can hold the attention of the turkey as you take the shot.
The Renzo decoys are realistic
and light weight. They are easy to
set up and carry. They
are very affective and durable. The Renzo decoy also comes with
a DVD. The cost of the three decoys and DVD is about
$40.
The only draw back to the decoys is that you have to have at least two set up so that the Tom can see them coming from any direction. This is a very minor criticism of this product. I would like to point out that there is no product that works in every situation.
I will be using The Renzo Decoys this turkey season.
