Bow Stabilizer.
When you are looking for a
bow stabilizer you will find that
there
are hundreds of different styles out there. It can be very hard to
find the one that is perfect for you. Stabilizers come in all kinds
and sizes.
They can be short, fat, long or skinny.
Some
have big rubber parts or rubber sticking out of them. Many bow
hunters ask “which one would be best for me”?
When going to archery shop you may try
several different styles and they all seem to work the same.
Before
you can pick the right stabilizer you have to ask some questions.
You need to ask what the stabilizer will do for you and which one
would be best for hunting.
Stabilizers do two things.
First, it will stabilize the bow as
you aim at the target.
It also will control vibration after the
shot. When you go to any target shoot, you will see stabilizers that
are three to four feet long.
They are long hollow aluminum tubes that
are very light in weight.
The archer can add and remove tubes as
needed.
They can also add weights to the
stabilizer.
The stabilizer helps keep the site pin
steady on the target.
As the archer aims at the target you can
see the end of the stabilizer move as it compensates for the shot.
For bow hunting a three or four foot
stabilizer is useless in the woods. A bow hunter needs a stabilizer
that keeps the site pin on the deer but it needs to be less than a
foot long.
The stabilizer must also stand up to
being dragged into the woods.
It also must be light enough not to
affect carrying the bow into the woods.
The
hunting stabilizer has to have some kind of vibration dampening
system.
Vibration is what makes noise as the bow
is fired. Most stabilizers on the market are designed to control
vibration. With
todays bow being so quite the need for vibration control is much
less than in the past.
Now that we know what a stabilizer does,
now let’s talk about which one to get.
The stabilizer that I use
is the
B-stringer.
The b-stringer
givers a couple option when picking the best one for you.
The
company makes two bar or tubes for bow hunting.
They make two bars an 8” and an 12”.
The bars have very little weight to
them.
They make weights that can be add to the
end to the bars.
The weights come in different weight.
This allows you to adjust the stabilizer
to your needs. What you want to happen it the bow to fall forward as
you shot.
This will free the arrow to fly down
range without hitting any part of the bow.
I
know there are some guys out there that have a stabilizer are that
only four or five inches long.
I have had some guys say to me that a
stabilizer that is 6 inches long it too long to hunts with.
The problem is that when a stabilizer is
only a couple inches long it has to be a very heaver to have any
affect on the shot.
A
lot of time the stabilizer is only a vibration dampening and doesn’t
stabilizing the shot.
This
adds a lot of weight to the bow and the archery gets almost nothing
for it.
So this makes the stabilizer less
affective as a counter balances.
When looking for a stabilizer you want something that is adjustable. You want it to reduce vibration and those noses. Last you want to be as light a possible. The B-stringer dose all three. Is had tubes that are different lengths and weight can be added to the end as need. The tubes have vibration reducer in them to make the bow quitter was it is being fired. The most important thing that a stabilizer does is help improver you shooting. To ensure that you get the combination of tubes and weight go to you local pro shop and try different tube length and weight combination. Have the archery pro watch you shot. You don’t want to go though all the trouble with getting a stabilizer and not get the right one. This will ensure that you have to best stabilizer that fit you perfect.
Good luck
