Seeing Arrows In Flight!!!

When we are hunting we want to see where the arrow hits the animal.  This little bit of information will be useful if we can't find our arrow.  Over the years if have tried many different things to help me see the arrow as it his the animal.  To help me see where my arrow hit the deer I have used many different color fletchings on my arrows. Brightly colored fletchings seem to a good option but they only  become invisible as they hit the deer especially in low light.  I have tried using different kinds of over the counter devices to help see the arrow hit the deer with mixed results.

As hunters we are also trying everything in our power not to be seen.  We use the best camouflage on the market so animals don't see us in the woods.  We go high into trees to get out of the line of sight.  We also use products that make it almost imposable for deer to smell us. We've taken all these steps to conceal ourselves so we don't want the option we use to see the arrow undo all of our hard work.

Before I go any farther I should point out that if you are using correct shooting form, you should not be able to see your arrow in flight.  Instead as the arrow hits the game the arrow slows down considerably.  In that moment, there is an opportunity to see where the arrow hits the animal. Also,  I should point out that no matter what you do sometimes you will not see the hit.

We want to be able to see our arrow hit the game but we don't want to draw attention to us before the shot.  I have found the best fletching color is white. The white color will not draw the attention of the game but does  help us see the arrow hit. The problem is that this it is not always to best option because in low light situations or overcast days it can be difficult to see.   Also depending on the color of the game it could be impossible  to see your arrow hit by just looking for the fletching.  In an attempt to solve this problem our good friends from Fire Nock have sent us the next generation of their product.  I have done reviews of Fire Nock in the past.  If you want to read it click here.   This hunting season I will be using the 2.0s for my ICS hunter arrows.

I have been taking a lot of ribbing from many of you about the Fire Nock and how strongly I believe in them.  The reason I like Fire Nock is because it works and also because it gives you useful  information about the hit.  There have been many cases where I have had a hunting partner shoot a deer and not know if the arrow is still in the deer or if it bounced away.  They may not even know it they hit the deer. The Fire Nock can help you see where the arrow hit the game.  It will also give you some idea it you shot over, below, or  around the deer.

In the photo above you can see the orange line as it approaches the target.  This is the Fire Nock that you are seeing.  You can probably tell  that the fletchings are very hard to see.  To be fair they are small and if I was using feathers you might be able to see them better.

Here is a close up of the Fire Nock in action.  This photo was very hard to take but you can see that there is no way that you can see the fletching.

I feel that seeing your arrow hit the game is a key piece of information that would be very useful to have before you decide whether to go after the game now or later.   The Fire Nock can be very useful to any hunter out there.  Here is a link to fire nock at http://www.firenock.com/

I wish everyone out there a good hunting season.  Hunting season is starting all over the country in a few weeks.

Fire Nock is a great lighted nock.  There is a video below that I got at the Fire Nock web page.  I hope that you all enjoy this video.

Good Luck.
