Fire Nock
The idea of a lighted nock has always appealed to me for many reasons. The problem is that I have tried many different kinds of lighted nocks and have been very disappointed. In most cases the nock doesn't work or only works for a short period of time. I have found that most lighted nocks don't work well with carbon arrows. The reason is that the power to light the light has to pass though the arrow and carbon is a poor conductor of electricity.
When I got this package from Fire Nock and I had my doubts about how well it would work. I decided I would not put this article on the web page until I had made at least a hundred shots with this nock and see how many times it lights. I also feel that some hunters will have trouble adding the nocks to their arrows because of the weight of the nock. The nock weights 19 grams more then a standard nock which could throw off the center of balance on lighter arrows.
Below is a photo of how the nock comes packaged. There are three lighted nocks and three practice nocks. I was very impressed with this because you will be able to practice with this unlighted nock and when you want the lighted nock you put it on.

This is the
Fire Nock 1.2. In the fall Fire Nock will release Fire Nock 2.0. The big
difference between the new and old nock is that you do not have to put the nock
together. This nock is a lot different from most other lighted nocks on the market.
I have found the best products on the market take a little work on your part for
them to work right.
If you take your time to put the nock together, it will work great. The hardest part is taking the
time to do it right. The first step is to glue a battery holder in the shaft of the arrow. This is
to hold the battery in the shaft. The nock also has to be assembled before
you put it in the arrow shaft. Firenock has a nice video on their web page on how to put the nock together. This was a very easy assembly
process. I would say it took me less then three minutes to put the nock together. You will also have to attach a magnet to your bow to turn on the
nock as it flies by. Even though it takes a little time to assemble, it works a lot better than other lighted nocks
that I have tried.
I have found that the extra 19 grams don't affect the flight of my arrows. The only problem I had was with the magnet. The blazer vains that I use hit the magnet where Fire Nock suggested to put it. The magnet caused the arrow to fish tail all the way down to the target. I had to move the magnet to the riser of the bow. Once I did this the arrow flight was great. The photo below shows where I placed the magnet. I have placed the magnet on the riser behind the rest so the magnet would not affect the broad head. You want to make sure that the magnet doesn't hit the vains or feathers as the arrow flies by.

I installed all three lighted nocks on arrows and tested them. I had no problem with two of the nocks. They light almost every time I shoot them. I had one that would light but half way down range it went out. It may be because I damaged the circuit board when I put the nock together. If I had bought it I would have mailed it back for a new one. I had great luck with the two nocks that were left. I tested them and shot them 100 times each. Out of one hundred shots for each arrow, one turned on 98 times and the other worked 97 times. I plan on using the nock for woodchuck and deer season.
The only possible problem I see is the weight of the nock on lighter arrows. I give this product a five broad heads out of five broad heads. Check them out and you will not be disappointed.
