I went to the Springfield Sportsmen's show to see what's up. I have taken some photos to share with you. I have kept it to bow hunting only seeing that there were hundreds of booths at the show. This show was great for any kind of hunter, fishermen, or outdoor person. They had everything there.
The first booth that I went to was Willie Allen from Outback Outfitters & Guide Service. What got my attention was the big bear in the back of his booth. Willie said that the bear weights 520 pounds. Willie also guides for ducks and deer as well as a swan bow hunt.
The next booth was the National Bow Hunter Education Foundation. There Webpage is www.nbef.org.
Adventure Game Calls had a read cool display of the four subspecies of turkeys that live in North America. All of the birds were shot by kids. They also had a retail booth at the show. Adventure also make some real nice calls. I have been using their box call for years and have been real happy with them.
The next interesting booth was Leon Meyer Safaris from South African. Talking to them you get the feeling that they care about the people that they take out hunting. I can just see me asking my wife if I could put the giraffe in the living room.
The next booth was Enticer Turkey Call. Al Holbert hand makes and tunes all of the calls he sells. I was very impressed with the quality. I'll be talking to AL before turkey season this year.
I have been going to this kind of show for years and I have seen many innovating tools for hunting. Blood Find of NH is a product that could be useful for any bow hunter. This product will help you find blood at night. Don Boisvert said that they found blood at the battle of Gettysburg. This is one of those products that anyone could use..
I also went to the AEP Company that makes a stabilization system as well as a vibration dampener. I was impressed with the stabilizer hunting swing system stab.
When you go to a show like this you will see all kinds of things. A neat device is the Hot Dot premium bow sight. This site uses the heads up display to place a red dot in the right place. This site is two sites in one. It has a pendulum mode that will allow you to have one "dot" that will move to make your shot good up to 30 yards. It is also a fixed pin model that works like any standard 4 pin site.
What is a good show without a tree stand. The one tree stand that stands out in my mind is the Treewalker. What makes this stand a little different is that there is no straps needed to hold the two pieces of the stand together as you are walking into hunt. This is one of those product that you wish you came up with. I hate fighting with straps on a tree stand. This stand will put an end to that.
I visited the people at United Bow Hunter of Connecticut.. They have helped protect archery hunting in CT for years and have done a great job. Check out their webpage.
Connecticut Trapper association is another great sportsman organization that helps prevents the loss of trapping rights.
This booth is the Hampden County Sportsman's Council Inc. They help sportsmen's club by informing them about what is going on with the law in the State of MA
Northwood's Sporting Journal a great outdoors newspaper. This journal is about being an outdoor person in the northeast U.S. These two guys seem to enjoy their work. By reading the newspaper you can tell.
Expressions Wilderness Taxidermists by Harry Beninati of NY, does a great job. I like how the full mountd are only 18'' off the wall.
The lion on the hunt looks so real that you didn't want to get in the way. The scene was made by North East Taxidermists. I have seen their work in the past and they do a really god job.

Last but not least the big buck organization showed hundreds of bucks at the show.

I enjoyed this show and this is only a small part of the show. A show like this can give you some new insight into your sport. It can also show you how to participate in new outdoor activities.
